Joe-Boy's Ughu

The Ughu season came again and this time I had the opportunity to be a host, when my son Joe-boy (Joseph) Nnabueze took the ughu title - the ughu title is one of the early steps leading to the presitigious Ozor title in Ukehe. After so many ceremonies, the initiate becomes an Achojede op' (which means - one in search of the elephant tusk). The elephant tusk is a symbol for the Ozor intitates.  The processes has undergone several reformations and christianisation from what it was in the days gone by. It was very interesting and soon we will have him do the proper Ozor title taking, its exciting because as young as he is, he is in tune with what is happening and asks questions. During the Ozor title taking ceremony (igbu-ichi) he'll take eight new names and he is amazingly contributing to the name search which is part of what is going on now amidst the payments that is almost like trading at a stock exchange hall. The Ozor title taking is slated for sometime in September.
